I’m Samantha – Beauty Call’s newest office employee and hair and makeup artist in training. Over the next few months I will be working as an intern at BC’s Head Office whilst taking their intensive 1-to-1 Advanced Hair and Makeup Training Course.
I have now completed my first week at the hair and makeup agency, and what a week it’s been! Having worked for almost ten years in the corporate world in the City it was certainly a big change, my brain is still aching from all the new information it is trying to retain!
Week one began with training from Phil at Beauty Call’s Head Office, learning the ropes, liaising with all the wonderful BC franchisee’s and speaking with new brides (the best bit!)
Mid-week it was onto makeup artist training with the fabulous Justyna, who introduced me to the makeup world by going through the basics of my kit and face painting, from lions to butterflies. I got to put this into practice for ‘real’ doing fairies for a kids summer production of’ Mid-summer Night’s Dream’ at the Tasis School Epsom.
I also covered ‘day to evening makeup’ on my model Katie – she made it easy though, I have to say!
Sunday I attended Beauty Call’s One Day Bridal Hair Styling Course where I learnt along with 12 other artists (ranging in experience from beginners like me, to already experienced and working artists) how to do a variety of hairstyles from messy bun, half up beehive with curls, french pleat and a 40’s wave.
I was pretty impressed with my first attempt at a messy bun on Jo’s super long hair! I now need to practice on my dolly head from Sally’s, all the styles I was taught.
Next week I’ll be telling you about new products from Mud at PAM (Precious About Makeup) and how I found working with more mature skins and getting to grips with a smokey eye!
