BAFTAS 2014 Beauty!!

So it’s that time of year again and the topic of conversation turns to the awards ceremonies.

Who wore what? What’s been nominated? And of course the hair and makeup loves…. and those looks we didn’t quite love so much.

I adore films and was lucky enough to have some involvement in these years BAFTAS making up Warner Bros’ Polly Cochrane in Central London. Polly was representing the most nominated film at the BAFTAS 2014: ‘Gravity’.

I couldn’t help but take a sneak peek at the table plan as she revised it, noticing that her table consisted of George Clooney, Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock…..naturally the conversation turned to Mr Clooney!

For Polly’s makeup I wanted to keep focus on the eyes.

Once I had seen the dress I knew instantly the kind of look I wanted to create. It isn’t of course always this instantaneous, but the floor length silk pink champagne coloured dress had a simple elegance that I also wanted to be reflected in the makeup.

I went for a shimmering brown smoky eye with a soft coal eye line sweeping up and out, accentuated with lots of individual lashes. I love the brown in the NARS duo eyeshadow ‘India Song’ it’s a warm rich colour with the perfect amount of shimmer in it!

I used one of my favorite foundations  – ‘Makeup Forever HD’ for a fresh, light complexion with a cream based warm pink blush, which I also used on her lips. Bobby Brown ‘Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks’ in ‘Powder Pink’ was the perfect shade to warm up Polly’s complexion but still look natural. With any cream blush blending is the key! You do not want to see any edges!

In terms of hairstyles, a loose, low chignon with a little volume at the crown was perfect to create a soft, elegant, swept back look. I didn’t want any hairstyle that was too busy. Less was definitely more on this occasion!
