Jason Wu New York Fashion Week

Fashion Weeks are in full swing and I just had to share my favourite looks so far from the New York Fashion Week.

With sleek braided updo’s and clean sculpted eyes and cheek bones, not only is the look masculine but feminine. The red lips just add that little hint of sexiness without overpowering! Make Up artist Diane Kendal, used MAC Cosmetics to create the look, and here’s a little insight to what she used if you fancy creating this look!

For this stand out lips she created a red lip using a mix of reds. She used one of my all time favourite pencils, MAC Pencil in Shade Cherry Red. The lip was filled in with the liner first and she continued by outlining the lip with lip liner Shade Vino. She then added MAC’s Lady at Play and Lush Life Lip colours and finally added Magenta Lip Mix to finish.

Skin was prepped by expert Sunday Riley and then Diane used a light layer of foundation to give this flawless look, I suggest Face & Body by MAC or one of my favourite alternatives but is slightly more expensive at the moment is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. It’s has a delicate, fluid texture which blends easily creating a light but barely there base – perfect for this look.

Cheeks and Eyes
These were contoured using taupe Sculpt by MAC under the cheekbones and in the crease of the eyelids. An alternative could be an eye shadow in taupe such as Bobbi Brown’s one. The cheeks were finished with a light pink flush and for this she used Poised. The eyes were topped with a Golden Lemon pigment, and then the lashes curled for impact coated with Black mascara finished with a thin black eyeliner.

Brows were filled in and give the eyes great definition.

This was created by Odile Gilbert, working for Kérastase Paris. The sleekness from the front created for me the masculine look and the braid, which can be seen from the back created the soft femininity.

Here’s how she created the look

Step 1 – She started by sectioning the hair in to two sections at the front and the back

Step 2 – She then sprayed each section and braid the back section setting each section again with a light hair spray

Step 3 – Tuck the end of the braid under itself.

Step 4 – The hair at the front is then slicked back to one side and on the opposite side created a single finger wave again bring back that femininity

Step 5 – Add shine spray and fix with spray

I love this look and think that you can definitely take it from the catwalk to a night out; you just need the right dress, and a Beauty Call artist to help you recreate the look!

I will be back with more looks from all of the Fashion weeks so watch this space!
